Ana J. Amaya, D.D.S., M.S.

Amaya-_2013.jpgDr. Ana J. Amaya has been providing exceptional periodontal and implant care for over 15 years! She obtained her Doctorate of Dental Surgery degree from the University of California, San Francisco in 1997 and earned her Masters of Science degree in Biology as well as a Certificate in Periodontics and Implantology from UCSF in 2001.

Dr. Amaya is Board Certified by the American Board of Periodontics. She enjoys sharing her knowledge with her peers and patients, and has published many articles. She also lectures internationally, and as a Spanish speaker, has had the pleasure of lecturing in Latin America. She serves as Assistant Clinical Professor in the post-graduate periodontics program at the University of California, San Francisco, School of Dentistry. She is also a clinical and research mentor for periodontal residents.

To stay up-to-date on the latest periodontal and implantology techniques and innovations, Dr. Amaya maintains memberships in the American Dental Association (ADA), the California Dental Association (CDA), the Marin County Dental Society (MCDS), the American Academy of Periodontology (AAP), the California Society of Periodontists (CSP), the International Team for Implantology (ITI), and the Academy of Osseointegration (AO).

Dr. Amaya gives back to the community by providing dental services to the underserved. In her leisure time, she is an avid trail runner, continuously training for local races in Marin's many trails and parks. She also enjoys nutrition and the benefits of cooking for healing, as well as spending time with Sofia, her adorable chihuahua/dachschund.

Steven D. Nytko, D.D.S., M.S.

Dr.-Nytko---Dec-2016_RESIZED.jpgA native of Chicago, Illinois, Dr. Steven Nytko completed his B.S. degree in Biology, a Master of Science in Kinesiology in 1989 and his Doctorate of Dental surgery degree at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. He went on to complete his Periodontics residency training at the University of Illinois-Chicago with a specialty certificate in Periodontology in 1994.

During his second year of dental school, Dr. Nytko was commissioned as an officer in the United States Navy and reported for active duty at the conclusion of his specialty training. He subsequently served as the Director for Periodontal Training and Periodontal Specialty Advisor for numerous commands while serving in duty stations that included San Diego, Chicago, and Okinawa, Japan. He is particularly proud of the 8 years he spent serving and supporting United States Marine Corps personnel during his 20-year career. A decorated and now retired veteran – he is widely regarded as the most clinically prolific and one of the most experienced periodontists in Navy history. During his final six years of active military service, Dr. Nytko also maintained a part-time private practice in La Jolla, CA limited to oral implantology and cosmetic and reconstructive periodontics.

Dr. Nytko is Board Certified by the American Board of Periodontology. As passionate educator and highly regarded periodontal clinician, he has personally trained and mentored over 190 fellow dentists in the specialty fields of periodontics, oral surgery, and dental implantology.

When not engaged in clinical practice, Dr. Nytko and his wife, Jami, are avid dog handlers and trainers whose dogs have achieved national ranking and numerous accolades in several dog sports, including competitive Obedience, Rally, Carting, and Tracking. They are active members of several state, regional and national breed organizations. Dr. Nytko is also a certified American Kennel Club Canine Good Citizen evaluator and an aspiring Tracking and Rally Obedience judge. He currently sits on the Board of Directors for the Golden State Rottweiler Club and is a former board member of the Southwestern Rottweiler Club of San Diego. He and Jami are devoted to the clubs’ Rottweiler rescue programs – training, rehabilitating and helping rescued Rottweilers find their forever home.
